This blog post is to warn those of you currently trying to start up their own career, no matter what industry, and to warn you of the risks you take on those you choose to work with.

These last few months have been possibly the most important for my career to date. Embarking on creating a fashion film and series of images for my final major project, I have learnt a heck of a lot! Lets face it, it has been NO easy task. I needed to organise and engage a large cast and crew, consisting of a Producer, DOP, models, camera assistants, make-up/hair assistants, runners and so on and as I have no background in film it was an extremely ambitious task. However, in life you should always take risks, especially in this industry. If you succeed, you will be happy; if you do not, you will be wiser.

This leads me to why i am writing this particular post. Initially, I had a good friend of mine who very kindly offered to help me with actually technically creating the piece with me but unfortunatly was unable to shoot on the date available. I had been introduced to a friend of his who was a producer and seemed so excited and so enthralled to be working on my feature, and helped me with my work for a little while until things turned very sour. eek! Things went very quiet, as i was trying to contact him more and more and less and less he would reply or even answer his phone, don’t actually picked up the phone for a month - who does that?! anyway. so cut a long story short, it came to the day of my shooting my film and ..SHOCK! HORROR!.. i get a text from him at 9am saying oh we don’t actually have a camera for the day..as if anything worse could have happened! he knew i was trying my best to organize anything needed yet i was told lies after lies and ended up having to call up loads of film companies..on a sunday might i add! and luckily managed to get in contact with a very professional and amazing cameraman called David Hart, costing me an extra £500..that i really do not have but oh well! Obviously, i did not allow myself to fail and had to find a way to work through this catastrophe, but in essence, my career and education could have been destroyed at the hands of a stranger!

If any of you take anything from this, even if it was just because you were bored and wanted to have a nosey into the world of cat..i hope you do not end up in the same situation as me. Be very mindful and conscious about who you choose to work with. In my case it proves that any person can fill you with confidence through falsehood and can promise the world, but it is never that simple.
